Here is a rare building table in golden brass marquetry on blackened and lacquered pear background.
Its hectic sighted plateau, girded with a lingot is adorned with a cartridge opening onto a rosewood interior with a courtesy mirror and a belt drawer.
In the lower part, a drawer in hoppers remains invisible below.
Its feet are galped to chiseled and gilded bronze ornamentation.
Time: second half of the nineteenth century.

A work table, also called a worker, it’s a small light table whose tray is surrounded by a height border to avoid falling objects.

This table with or without a crotch tablet sometimes has a sliding work box under the belt.
Louis Gradé, implanted his workshops, in 1852, at 9, rue Caste and in 1856, he opened a store at 23, rue de la Paix in Paris.
He participates in the universal exhibition of London of 1851 with an honorable mention.
From 1866, the house takes the denomination of Louis Gradé and Pelucot.
They will both participate in the 1867 World Expo.
At the end of the nineteenth (1886) was created the prestigious Boulle School, which is now the higher school of the arts applied to the furniture and internal architectures industries.
