Vintage Design
Gorgeous set of 4 original and signed Cane “Plia” folding chairs in Vienna straw wicker and chrome. These iconic Italian chairs were designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli in the 1967. This elegant chairs have a structure fully made in chrome with the seat and the back made in a fantastic woven wicker mounted over a light beech wood frame. The end result is an incredibly charming and stylish chair. The chairs are NOS, in perfect conditions as they have never been used. PLIA, the symbol of a new era focused on plastic: this is how the plia chair from 1967 was welcomed when it was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. on the occasion of the fair, the session received so much public acclaim that many visitors walked away from the stand taking samples without even asking for permission … following this unorthodox compliment, the chairs were tied with a chain for safety. These folding chairs are made of very rare pink plexiglas with a chrome structure and are in perfect condition. The “Plia” folding chair is a true design classic as it has won several awards and is also part of the MoMA collection.
