1960s Early Studio Ceramic Bowl by Brother Thomas Bezanson

An early ceramic round bowl with a flat foot ring studio crafted by Brother Thomas Bezanson (1929-2007) circa 1970-80s. Covered in a brilliant free form red glaze on white background, the bowl has the root of its archetype in Chinese ceramic and the glaze displays a brilliant gradient hue that calls to mind the famed “Langyao Red” from Qing dynasty. Chinese connoisseurs even conjected names for different shades of red, for the color like this one, they might call it Red of the Beauty’s Rouge. The base rim is incised “Benedictine Monks, Weston, Vermont” and with BT’s cipher, also inked “30/3/11/3”. The decipher dates the piece circa 1965-1970.
