Vintage Design

Wonderful “cock fighting” or conversation chairs often in The Netherlands referred to as “smokers” chair. This lovely brutalist item can be used in the traditional way with the backrest used as is but is also suitable to be used the other way around ( so both legs on each side of the back rest, arms resting on the top of the backrest ). This example was probably made in The Netherlands in the 1950s. The chair is in a great vintage condition with only some minor wear.

Vintage Design

A beautiful highback lounge chair, model “Ardea”, designed by Carlo Mollino in 1950 and manufactured by Zanotta in Italy around 1980. This eye-catching chair has a fantastic dog tooth pattern fabric in black and white, which greatly contributes to the eye-catching style of the piece. The black wooden base combines very nicely with the upholstery. The back of the base is lower than the front and have an elegant, curved shape. It has a low seat and high backrest, creating a wonderful seating experience. Together with the armrests this makes this appealing chair very fitting for comfortable lounging and a great addition to the living room. It’s an iconic piece of mid-century Italian design of which the designer clearly had an excellent eye for detail. It remains in very good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. This is a 1980s production.
