He is regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of The Twentieth Century. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the most well know figures in Twentieth Century Art.

The original artwork ” Les Demoiselles D’Avignon ” is a large oil painting created by Picasso in 1970. Held in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art New York, it portrays five females in a brothel on Carrer D’Avinyo Street in Barcelona, Spain.

Les Demoiselles was revolutionary, controversial and led to widespread anger and disagreement, even amongst the painter’s closet associates and friends. Painted in Picasso’s studio in Montmartre, Paris in 1907 it would not be exhibited until 1916, and not widely recognized as a revolutionary masterpiece until the early 1920’s.
